Jour noir!  Today we had our last day of gross motor centers in gym, and we learned how to draw a black bat.  We also read and brainstormed about lots of other black things we know of.

Please check for all library books at your house - we have library on Monday.  Monday is also photo retake day.

What a fun day!  We worked on representing 'trois' (3) in math and also did some estimating and counting of pumpkin seeds.  We had lots of fun getting our hands gooey and then we put the seeds in our water table for more sensory fun!

Tomorrow is jour noir (black) and the new calendar is up.  We will be starting our oral homework presentations in November and will email out with more information on Monday.

What a 'gris' day!  We hope everyone got to where they needed to be safely today!  Today the students worked on different gross motor and fine motor skills required for the EYE assessments in PE and in the class.  Cutting, colouring, copying shapes, balancing, jumping, and skipping are just a few examples.

Scholastic forms are going home today.  Since we know many families will be using the orders for Christmas shopping, if you would like us to contact you when your order comes in (rather than send them home with your child), please just send us a note and we're happy to do so.  Orders will be due November 8 (and will be indicated on the Calendar that will be posted tomorrow).

What a great day! The PM class had fun looking at what makes someone unique with our special workshop. We are all very unique and are proud of our differences! Thank you to all the parents that helped make this activity fun, we appreciate your time! We did a great job during our first practice lock down this morning. Afterwards, we talked about how important it is to be silent during a lock down.
If you are going to the Halloween school dance (6:30-8:30) have a great time!
Enjoy your weekend!
Reminder: jour gris Monday - wear grey Monday.

Today during jour blanc we practiced how to write BLANC and brainstormed different things that we see that are white. Our activity was to draw white objects on black paper. We also practiced how to draw a person by thinking of the different shapes we see that make our head, body, arms and legs. We are learning how to add more detail to our drawings. There was also time for a little shared reading. During center time, we had fun exploring different Halloween sensory items and creating different stories together.
Tomorrow morning there will be a practice lock down. We did a little classroom practice this afternoon and discussed why it is important that we practice for a lock down.

We are still looking for a couple more volunteers to meet us at from 9:30-11:30am tomorrow morning for our in class field trip. Please sign up if you can make it, we would very much appreciate it!

During jour brun today we read the story Ours Brun and learned how to draw a bear following step by step instructions. For our first try, we did very well! We also discovered some fun new items in our centers today. Ask your child what new things they felt in the water table, sand table, and house center.
Reminder: tomorrow is jour blanc, wear white tomorrow.

We had a super great time at Research Park today! We worked on making fun patterns using natural materials we found on the ground in the park. We read a nice story about autumn time and discussed all the changes we see during this season. We did a scavenger hunt to find different colour leaves, birds, animals and different items we would see more during fall. Research park is a great place to learn and play and to jump in leaves!
A BIG MERCI to all the awesome volunteers who came with us today!! We appreciate your time with us!

We had a great visit with Constable Mark today! He talked about the importance of including others and who are the people that help and protects us at school, home, and our community. We read the book Have You Filled a Bucket Today? We described how we fill someones bucket by sharing, being kind or being generous. Ask your child what they drew in their bucket to help fill someone else's bucket.

We also read the story Leaf Man. There are many different images of animals and things created from the wind blowing leaves around. Our new class center is creating and designing different animals or people with leaves and taking a picture of our new art!
We learned a new game outside during physical education. We played with hoola hoops and bean bags. It was a fun and very active game!

We are looking forward to tomorrow's walk to Research Park. Please ensure you send your child with appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear, a water bottle, and easy-to-eat snacks. The AM class will be departing by 8:30am returning by 10:30am, the PM class will be departing by 12:10pm returning by 2:15pm.

Reminder: Next library book exchange is Wednesday October 23rd.
