Resources

Calgary Reads  Take your child to the Children's Reading Place.  It is one of Mme Michelle's favourite places in the city to be immersed in literacy.  In fact, it's our homework for you, parents - one visit with your child (and then you'll be hooked!)!  On the Calgary Reads site, click "Visit" to book an appointment (free).

The French Experiment Free online French lessons and stories

The Fable Cottage Bilingual tales for language learners

Tumblebooks -  English and French stories

Kindergarten Songs Playlist - Created by a parent in our class!  Please note there may be a couple of songs included that the family also likes to listen to.  Thank you so much for sharing!

Alliance française Calgary - This organization promotes French language and culture.  In addition to French classes, they run monthly cultural events (film nights, family art workshops, summer camps and more).

Storybooks Canada - "Storybooks Canada is a free open educational resource that promotes literacy and language learning in homes, schools, and communities. It makes 40 stories from the African Storybook available with text and audio in English, French, and the most widely spoken immigrant and refugee languages of Canada."

I'm Ready for Screens!  Did you know that the #1 predictor of screen overuse in children is the overuse of screens by the important adults in their lives?  This is a great booklet with checklists and tips and strategies for using technology with young children.
